ABOUT
Tracy DogGirls Rescue Inc.

At Tracy DogGirls Rescue (TDGR), our mission is to rescue and secure lost dogs roaming the streets of Tracy. Every dog deserves a chance to find their way back home, and we are dedicated to providing a safe and secure place for these adventurous pups while we work tirelessly to reunite them with their owners.

When an owner cannot be located, TDGR steps in to offer foster homes, ensuring each dog is cared for until they find a permanent, loving family or are placed into our local animal shelter.

We collaborate closely with the Tracy community to safely secure stray dogs and maximize efforts to reunite them with their families.

With the rising number of abandoned dogs, TDGR emphasizes the importance of spaying and neutering pets. By addressing this critical issue, we aim to reduce the number of stray and unwanted animals, helping to end the ongoing pet overpopulation crisis in Tracy.

Together, we can create a better, safer future for Tracy’s dogs.

VALUES & HISTORY

VALUES:

  • Compassion for Every Dog — We treat every dog with dignity, patience, and care, no matter their past, breed, or circumstance. Every life matters.

  • Community Partnership — We believe rescue is a shared effort. By working with neighbors, finders, fosters, adopters, and local organizations, we create a stronger safety net for lost and abandoned dogs.

  • Commitment to Reunification — Our first priority is always to bring lost dogs home. We search tirelessly—posting, scanning, knocking on doors, and following every lead until every possibility is exhausted.

  • Responsible Ownership — We educate our community on spay/neuter, microchipping, training, and secure environments to prevent dogs from becoming lost or abandoned in the first place.

  • Prevention Through Action — We support accessible spay/neuter programs and community education to reduce unwanted litters and break the cycle of overpopulation in our city.

  • Ethical, Thoughtful Adoptions — When reunification isn’t possible, we place dogs intentionally in homes that match their needs, ensuring safe, stable, and lifelong placements.

  • Integrity & Transparency — As a foster‑based, volunteer‑run rescue, we operate with honesty, gratitude, and accountability to our community and the dogs we serve.

HISTORY:

  • Tracy DogGirls Rescue (TDGR) was founded in January 2024 with a simple but powerful mission: to reunite stray dogs within the Tracy city limits with the families who love them. What began as a small, heart‑driven effort quickly grew into a vital community resource.

  • In just two years, TDGR has secured over 500 stray dogs, successfully reuniting 75% of them with their owners. This remarkable success comes from countless hours spent walking neighborhoods, knocking on doors, hanging flyers, and posting across social media and lost‑and‑found platforms like PawBoost and 24PetConnect.

  • For dogs whose owners cannot be found or who are surrendered, TDGR operates a thoughtful, ethical adoption program focused on matching each dog to the right home based on personality and needs.

  • As a foster‑based, volunteer‑run rescue, TDGR relies entirely on the generosity of fosters, volunteers, donors, and community partners. During 2025, the rescue consistently cared for over 40 dogs and puppies at a time, making it one of the most challenging yet impactful years in our history.

  • TDGR continues to advocate for meaningful change during this ongoing animal crisis — including expanded shelter space, increased staffing, affordable spay/neuter programs, and accessible microchipping to reunite lost pets faster.

  • What began as a mission to help lost dogs find their way home has grown into a community movement built on compassion, dedication, and the belief that every dog deserves safety, love, and a chance.

 CHALLENGES.

The daily calls, texts, and emails asking us to save dogs from euthanasia, help with rehoming, or take in strays that shelters tell people to “just release” are some of the hardest parts of rescue. We want to help every dog, but as a small foster‑based team, we simply can’t take them all, no matter how much it breaks our hearts. The emotional weight of turning dogs away is heavy, and these challenges remind us how overwhelming this crisis truly is. We’re grateful for every prayer, every kind word, and every bit of support as we keep fighting to change one dog’s future at a time.

PARTNERS.

We are thankful for our partnership with many local rescues who have the same vision we do.  We step up daily to save lives while we pray for a dya we don't need to. We are so grateful for our team members who foster, adopt, share our posts, pray for our rescue, donate monetarily or supplies, and so much more.

TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAMS WORK!
